Letter for November 14, 2012, Clark County Government Hearing

The scenic byway through Red Rock Canyon is becoming a dangerous construction, commuter, and commercial high speed highway as irresponsible growth in the Southwest pushes more traffic through the canyon. County Commissioners approved a huge master-planned community against the recommendations of design staff who denied it based on insufficient roads to handle the increased traffic. Highway 160 has always been the commuter highway between Pahrump and Las Vegas, and now it is so clogged up, drivers are forced to go up to 30 miles out of their way, through Red Rock Canyon’s once-peaceful scenic byway to get to Las Vegas.
Please help us return Red Rock Canyon to the peaceful retreat we have all learned to love.
