SENATE BILL NO. 128–COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORTATION AND HOMELAND SECURITY
1. Because of its unique character, the restrictions imposed on certain large vehicles pursuant to this act are necessary for the protection of the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and the safety and protection of the residents and visitors who enjoy the scenic beauty and recreational opportunities of the Red Rock Canyon.
2. The enactment of this act is not intended to encourage the imposition of similar restrictions on other designated scenic routes in this State.
As you know, after long deliberations and earnest email and phone campaigns (thanks for all your letters and calls), it was passed through the Senate and Assembly. The hearing was videoconferenced into Las Vegas.
Thanks for all your work. The last time I wrote, it wasn’t looking so good, because the trucking unions were fighting it, but we were able to completely turn this thing around with all the support! Senators Dennis Nolan, Joe Heck, Mark Amodei, Maurice Washington, Maggie Carlton, John Lee, and Joyce Woodhouse all heard our cries and acted accordingly.
We sincerely appreciate Dina Titus for introducing the bill and to the senators and representatives for standing up for their constituents.
