LAS VEGAS (March 30, 2017) – The Save Red Rock (SRR) petition, created by the non-profit organization, continues to spark an outpouring of support as it surpassed more than 50,000 signatures by concerned citizens nationwide to preserve and protect the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area (RRCNCA).
Save Red Rock also urges community members and leaders to be a voice to help protect Nevada’s natural treasures from development this Friday, March 31, at 8:00 a.m. as Assembly Bill 277 is introduced into Las Vegas by attending the hearing. AB 277, sponsored by Assemblyman Steve Yeager, will protect national conservation areas by restricting local governments from enacting development plans of certain lands located within any national conservation area, national recreation area or adjacent lands, including Red Rock Canyon. This proposed bill is created to protect the staples of Nevada’s natural heritage and conservation areas like Black Rock Desert, Red Rock Canyon, Tule Springs, and Sloan Canyon.
Save Red Rock encourages the community to show its support for public lands by attending the hearing in Las Vegas or the video conference in Northern Nevada:

“This bill is a blessing, not only for Red Rock Canyon, but for all of our state’s national treasures. It is written in a sensitive way to protect existing neighborhoods and homebuilders, and to preserve our state’s most beautiful natural attractions at the same time. Of course, I am most excited about what it can do for Red Rock Canyon. Since this bill doesn’t take away any property rights, it’s a solid, fair and well-written piece of legislation that should be able to stand for future generations to come.” explains Heather Fisher, SRR president.
