Defend Bears Ears &
Grand Staircase-Escalante
On July 13, 2026, the administration announced reductions to the boundaries of Bears Ears National Monument and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument by a combined three million acres — a move that virtually eliminates them.
These monuments are part of a larger cultural landscape — an interconnected Indigenous homeland stewarded by Native Americans since time immemorial. Tribal Nations led the effort to protect Bears Ears, and Tribal Nations, local communities, scientists, and businesses helped secure lasting protections for both monuments. Stripping these protections puts Tribal cultural resources, wildlife habitat, clean water, outdoor recreation access, and local economies at immediate risk.
Take action today: Sign the petition and send a message to your members of Congress asking them to publicly oppose these reductions.
Stop the cuts to the BLM –
and to our own Red Rock Canyon NCA
The lands we hike, climb, and love here at home – including Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area – are managed by the Bureau of Land Management. A newly proposed federal budget for Fiscal Year 2027 would gut the BLM, the largest public land agency in the country.
The proposed cuts include:
- A 34% cut to the agency’s total budget and a 27% reduction in staff
- A 76% cut to the National Conservation Lands — 38 million acres of protected public land
- A 61% cut to recreation management (trails, campsites, and visitor services)
- Complete elimination of funding for cultural resources and wilderness management
Congress has the power to reject these cuts — but they need to hear from you. Send a letter urging your members of Congress to reject the proposed budget and fund the BLM at a level that reflects its mission and the lands it protects.
