Lovell Canyon Rd Entrance, at SR 160 intersection
???? Orientation + Safety Training
All volunteers must sign a safety waiver upon arrival, and attend a quick safety training talk given by the US Forest Service. When you arrive, we will divide you into working groups and each group will have a quick orientation about the project and its unique safety issues at the following times:
- 9:15 AM: Fence Repair + Vegetation and Fire Ring Removal Group
- 9:30 AM: Signage Installation Group
- 10:00 AM: Litter Pick Up Group (if you know this is what you want to do, you don’t need to arrive before 9:30)

Reusable water bottle(s): water will be available on site
Snacks: None available on site, but please leave no trace!
Sunglasses or Protective Eyewear
Sunscreen
Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes & long pants
Long sleeved garments are recommended for fence repair and vegetation removal
Optional Items (Recommended for Fence Repair + Sign Install Projects)
Hard Hat
Ear plugs or ear protection
Protective Eyewear
Work gloves
High-clearance vehicles recommended, not required
What we are providing for you
Garbage bags
Pickers
Buckets (for glass or biohazard litter)
Rubber gloves
Safety vests (MUST be returned!)
Tools (Pounders, Loppers, Drills etc)
Signs, stickers and installation tools
????Project Descriptions and Locations
Project 1: Fence Repair: Lovell Canyon Trailhead
- Max 12 Volunteers (High skill + physical level. No children.)
- Repair wooden fence at trailhead, protecting habitat
- PPE needed (Hard Hat, Work Gloves, Ear Protection, Eye Protection)
Project 2: Vegetation + Fire Ring Removal: Lovell Canyon Trailhead
- Max 15 Volunteers (Medium skill + Physical level)
- Remove all vegetation around the wooden fence. Place on illegal social trail, to block and provide natural compost.
- Remove rocks forming fire rings on illegal trail and disperse safely
- PPE recommended (Eyewear, Work Gloves)
Project 3: Signage Installation: Throughout Lovell Canyon
- Max 8 volunteers per group (Medium to Low skill + Physical level. Children welcome.)
- Follow or carpool with team leader
- Adults can install, children can clean the signs and place stickers on them
- Eyewear needed
Project 4: Litter Pick Up: Throughout Lovell Canyon
- Unlimited volunteers (Low skill + Physical level. Children welcome)
- Volunteers can roam area and pick up litter on their own
- Safety vests recommended, but not required
- When complete, bring full garbage bags back to Check In Area for disposal
